Durban Beaches in KwaZulu Natal (original) (raw)

About Durban Beaches

As the main metropolis of the KwaZulu-Natal Province, Durban certainly has much to see and do. However, year after year, its beautiful beaches continue to be the lure that attracts visitors from all over the world.

Did you know? Durbans beaches are, arguably, its top attraction. Surfing spots like Bay of Plenty and Dairy, and bodyboarding favourite, North beach, have placed it firmly on the map, whilst swimming is possible right along the coast thanks to shark nets and lifeguards on duty.

The Indian Ocean is warmer than its counterparts and promises comfortable swimming conditions almost all year round. In addition, the weather in KZN is, generally, hotter than in the rest of South Africa, which means that days on the beach are even possible in winter (and an absolute must in summer).

Durbans beaches extend along the Golden Mile, and include a number of beaches that have achieved the renowned Blue Flag status, which testifies to their beauty, cleanliness, superior management and commitment to environmental responsibility.

Because of its proliferation of fabulous beaches, Durban is a hive of activity for water sports enthusiasts. It is an ideal spot for surfing, snorkelling, SCUBA diving, whale watching, kite surfing and paddling.
