Elgin Valley Wine Estates (original) (raw)

The fertility of the soil and the cool climate in the Elgin Valley means that this area is ideal for other fruit orchards, vineyards and even olive groves. Spend a day exploring these various farms and sampling the delectable produce for an authentic experience of the lovely Cape Overberg.

The Elgin Valley is reached after a scenic fifty minute drive from Cape Town along the N2. is also home to a number of wine farms, which do so well as a result of the cool climate, low pH of the soil and plentiful rainfall.

Some of the farms include well known labels like Arumdale, Beaumont, Elgin Ridge, Highlands Road Estate, Oak Valley Wines (one of the first farms established in the area), Paul Cluver Estate and Wildekrans.

Many of these estates offer tours of their cellars and wine tastings, as well as facilities to purchase wines directly from the farm.
