Klaserie Game Reserve, Limpopo (original) (raw)

The Klaserie Game Reserve reserve lies to the west of Timbavati covering 60 000 ha on either side of the Klaserie River. Established in 1969 and officially proclaimed a nature reserve in 1972, Klaserie is one of the largest privately owned nature reserves in South Africa.

Did you know? See the Big 5 in Timbavati, Klaserie and Balule nature reserves which form part of the greater Kruger area.

Part of the greater Kruger National Park, it is an entirely non-government organization involved in the full spectrum of Nature Conservation. The reserve borders the Timbavati Game Reserve and Kruger Park Reserve, and is hot and dry for most of the year. The bush is sparse but soon recovers, if and when summer rains arrive.

Wildlife wanders freely over vast areas and you are likely to see all the usual animals of the African bush including lion, elephant, rhino, leopard and many antelopes.

The private nature of this wilderness sanctuary enables one to embrace the African bushveld in one's own time - to take in the sounds, sights and smells that make the bushveld such a unique experience.

Safaris within this untamed region of the Greater Kruger National Park focus on the bush and its ecosystems, with the added excitement of getting involved in the tracking of Africas big game.

There are various commercial operations within Klaserie which range from rustic bush camps and walking trails to luxury game lodges, but it is the Reserve management's policy to keep commercial and thus human impact to a bare minimum as they strive to preserve the environment.

Although one can visit the reserve as a day visitor on sprecially guided tours, to fully appreciate this pristine environment we recommend a stay of a few days. SA-Venues.com proudly features a range of accommodation options within Klaserie to suit all travel needs and budgets.

Our Klaserie Accommodation search facility is easy to use and you make your accommodation bookings directly with the venues. Lodges within the reserve include self-catering, B&B style and fully catered, luxury game lodges. Special offers are highlighted, and reviews will help you make informed choices.
