Eshowe Hills Golf Course in Eshowe, KwaZulu Natal (original) (raw)

Originally designed by the late Bob Grimsdell, a true and celebrity amongst South African Golfing Architects, and recently upgraded by Jeff Hawkes, a former European PGA champion, the Eshowe Country Club golf course is an iconic golfing estate set in the heart of Zululand.

The emerald hills that surround the club are spliced by myriad estuaries that, from top down, branch out like trees of living water ensuring the fairways are well nourished and kept in tip top shape all year round.

Located on the edge of Dhlinza Forest, famous for its vast array of birdlife, the club has enjoyed magnificent views since its inception in 1907. There are strict laws in place today to protect and conserve these magical surroundings.

The 18 hole par 72 course itself is short in length at 5733m but dont let that trick you into arriving unprepared for a challenge. The par 4 279m 11th hole serves as a great example and is fiercely guarded by water hazards and defence trees accuracy is demanded and even the best consider a par a worthy score here.

Facilities include a Bar, Halfway House, Restaurant, Board Room and 5 new watering holes the kind that you lose your ball in. Book your accommodation in Eshowe and your tee-off ahead to avoid disappointment.

The Eshowe Hills Eco and Golf Estate situated on the rolling hills just outside Eshowe, with magnificent views down to the coast, and within easy reach of the new King Shaka Airport, offers not only a unique golfing experience for enthusiasts but also a base for visitors wishing to explore the historical or natural attractions of beautiful Zululand.
