Located on the banks of the Vaal River, which forms the boundary between the North West and Free State provinces, the Orkney Golf Course enjoys lush green and well irrigated grounds throughout the year. The club has an illustrious history which began back in 1939 when the members commissioned the late Bob Grimsdell to build and design a nine-hole course.

Today the course has swollen to a full eighteen-hole riverside parklands course and has matured into a delightful challenge, allowing golfers of all abilities to test their mettle here. The club has had their own score of home-grown stars over the years including some noteworthy professionals that have called Orkney their home.

The course itself offers four tee options with the championship length stretching out over 6458m. Wind in this part of the country plays no factor and the club gladly accepts visitors year-round. Challenges include 31 bunkers and 5 water features throughout the course with the Vaal River running parallel to the 8th, 9th, 10th and 11th holes.
