The Friendly City, as Port Elizabeth is known, is acclaimed for its long stretches of white beaches, lapped by warm Indian Ocean waters that are quite irresistible for swimming and other water sports.

For visitors and locals, though, it is also home to several golf courses. The Shark River Golf Club is situated in Forest Hill, making it close to the airport and the beaches, as well as to various malls and restaurants.

This is a public golf course that undergoes continuous improvement and upkeep to ensure that, while small, it offers a satisfying golfing experience for both keen golfers and beginners. It started out as a five-hole course that simply appealed to those wanting to hit a ball around. But, it soon grew in popularity and needed to be extended and refined. Today, there are some particularly challenging holes, which are best finished off with a stop at the pub afterwards.

The Shark River Golf Club is open all year round and visitors are welcome to spend their days on the greens during their time in Port Elizabeth. Book your accommodation in Humewood and your tee-off ahead to avoid disappointment. Golf carts are available for hire.
