Impofu Hiking Trail in Cradock, Eastern Cape (original) (raw)

About Impofu Hiking Trail

The Mountain Zebra National Park is home to a number of hiking trails, including the 25 kilometre Impofu Hiking Trail. This trail takes three days to complete and has been ranked as being easy to moderate. However, the sheer duration of it excludes the very young, elderly or otherwise incapacitated.

The Impofu trail showcases some fascinating countryside, ranging from typical Karoo scrub to riverine bushveld. Along the way, plenty of antelope (including eland, springbok and the grey rhebok) can be spotted, as well as some giraffe and zebra. An armed guide accompanies hikers for the entire duration of the trail.

The overnight huts are equipped with bunk-beds, a shower, a toilet, a fireplace and the wood needed to ensure a cosy night.
