About Mokopane Biodiversity Centre
Mokopane is situated just over two hours from Pretoria and little over 40 minutes from Polokwane. The Biodiversity Centre here is committed to breeding, conservation and research with the aim of preserving precious species from all around the world. The facility is also dedicated to education and has recreational facilities to make learning fun and informative.
The entire centre occupies an area of 1 300 hectares and is part of the National Zoo of Pretoria. It was established in 1981.
The breeding of black rhino, tsessebe, lemur and roan antelope, amongst other rare and endangered species, is of utmost concern to the Mokopane Biodiversity Centre. The Biodiversity Centre includes breeding enclosures, a game reserve that boasts plenty of wildlife, and camps.
