Bikers on coastal runs, fisherman post catch, high society on sabbatical, locals on lunch and tourists upon recommendation enjoy good old fashioned fish 'n chips on the rocks at the Hout Bay institution that is; Fish On The Rocks.

Cheap and cheerful this caf� fries up fresh and hot prawns, lobster (crayfish), killer calamari, lekker' line fish and 'slap' chips. Significant portions are served proudly in paper and cardboard boxes with plastic cutlery and a lemon wedge. Clean, basic, popular and generous with yummy seafood to the envy of encircling seagulls. You could toss a message in a bottle right into the ocean while still seated at your wooden table or wave at passing fishing vessels; which is why this family owned fishery has been under water during previous Cape Storms.

* 'lekker' (local word for nice), 'slap' (direct translation sloppy, local expression for French fries).
