This estate was named after the protea arborea named �waboom� meaning wagon tree. Early settlers would use the wood from the protea to make wheels for wagons and tanning from the bark. The leaves were also said to have had a use for making ink.

On the banks of the beautiful Breede River between the towns of Worchester and Ceres, is where the Waboomsrivier Wine Cellar is located. It was first established in 1949 and first received 4000 tons. Currently it receives nearly 16 000 tones and is run by 22 members. Red wines are matured in the cellar and the focus is mainly on bulk wine. The estate focus on freshness and fruitiness of their wines and use only the best grapes available. They offer wines which include Sauvignon Blanc, Chenin Blanc, Pinotage, Arborea Red and Hanepoot.

Aside from wine making, they produce tasty grapes, peaches and pears. Prunes, apples, olives , pecan nuts and persimmons are also grown in the valley. Enjoy the acidity in their white wines and spicy fruit flavours of their red wines.
