Boschfontein Mountain Lodge is a guest house with self catering option, providing accommodation in Ficksburg for anyone visiting the Thabo Mofutsanyana region.

Boschfontein Mountain Lodge offers self catering accommodation in Ficksburg , just 18km outside of town. The sandstone lodge is built on the side of the Joala Boholo Mountain and enjoys beautiful views of the Boschfontein Farm and the Maluti Mountains.

Self Catering Accommodation

Boschfontein Mountain Lodge is a self catering guest house in Ficksburg with four separate units and a shared bar, kitchen, lounge areas, indoor and outdoor braai areas, verandas and dining area. The units can be booked separately or the whole property can be booked.

On Site Facilities

Gas geysers provide hot water to the bathrooms and the kitchen, and wood is provided for the fireplaces and the braai areas. The lodge is cleaned daily. Linen and towels are provided. The shared kitchen is well equipped for self catering. The lounge area has a cosy fireplace.

The lodge is considered off-the-grid as the water is provided directly from a mountain spring, and solar power provides electricity to the fridge, lights, and plug points which are located in the kitchen and outside bar area.

Please note

There are fairly steep stairs connecting the downstairs bedrooms to the upstairs bedrooms, and should be taken into consideration when booking for elderly and frail guests, or families with small children. A baby cot is available for guests to use at an additional cost.

There is a gravel road leading to the accommodation. Guests are required to enquire about the condition of the road, before arrival, as it could be subject to change with heavy rain.

Activities and attractions

Various activities are available on request on the farm, and range from fishing, target and clay pigeon shooting, mountain trails and river walks for walking running, hiking or mountain biking, game drives, cherry liqueur tasting, and a tour of the Pinedene Small Arms Museum. The game camp is stocked with red hartebeest, impala, zebra, ostriches, waterbuck, springbuck, blesbuck, black wildebeest, and eland, and game viewing is mainly done in a Land Rover.
