Coldsprings Lodge in Grahamstown, Eastern Cape (original) (raw)

The rooms were clean and comfortable, and the showers were hot. However, we had a few problems on our arrival at the Guest house. We were delayed on our trip from Cape Town and phoned at about 5 p.m. to say that we would be late. Ten minutes before we arrived, we phoned again to say we would be there soon. At this point, we were given the gate code. We arrived at the farm at about 7.30 pm in the dark. There was no signage on the farm to show us where to go. We reached a fork in the road and phoned to find out which way to go, but there was no answer. Luckily, we had been given the gate code during our earlier phone call otherwise, we would have been stuck outside the farm. We eventually saw lights in the distance and assumed we had taken the correct route. There was no one to greet us on our arrival, and we were unsure where to go. Eventually, we found a young man who directed us to the rooms. Although we had booked a queen and a double room, the double room had not been prepared. Instead, the other couple who were with us were shown a room with two single beds. When we had pointed out the mistake, the double room was then prepared, and the geyser was switched on. Note: The road leading up to the farm is really only suitable for SUVs.
