Activities and Attractions

Greyton, the most beautiful village in the Cape, nestles in a hollow in the majestic Riviersonderend Mountain range. Hiking or walking in Greyton is an absolute must! There are many paths, some of them in the nature reserve, others along the rivers and not least, the historic walk in the village.

The famous Bosmanskloof Trail is from Greyton to McGregor, where you can either spend the night or hike back the next day or we can arrange for someone to fetch you. On a hot day, you can plunge into one of the mountain pools. Greyton is flanked by two rivers, one of which originates in the mountain resulting in ice-cold, crystal-clear water that is irresistible on a hot summer's day.

Mountain biking is a very popular sport in the village with 150km of biking trails have been laid out. The MTB Classic takes place on 16 June and the MTB Tour on the first weekend of September every year. Greyton's Saturday morning market is renowned for its fresh, wholesome, scrumptious fare and other close-to-nature products. Other attractions include the Genadendal Museum, beer tastings, horse riding, hiking and dining out at the various restaurants.
