Kalanderkloof Cottage is a highly recommended property for self catering in Sedgefield for up to 4 guests visiting the Garden Route region.

Kalanderkloof Cottage is a getaway off the beaten track located in the spectacular Garden Route of South Africa just inland from the town of Sedgefield. This upmarket secluded self-catering and truly off the grid cottage with modern amenities is set on a 108 ha farm bounded by pine plantations, natural forest and the Karatara River. The cottage provides the perfect spot for just taking it easy with only the chatter of birds and the occasional fish eagle calling to keep you company.

Self Catering Accommodation

The Cottage has a contemporary design touch with modern finishes and stylish furnishings. This small cottage has an open plan lounge, dining and kitchen area. A double bed sized sleeper couch, easily catering for two children (up to the age of 11) is in the lounge. A four-seater glass table is ideal for enjoying meals in front of the fireplace. A cozy fire to warm up those colder nights or just for enjoyment adds to the ambience. The kitchen is fully equipped with a gas powered fridge with freezer compartment, a gas stove and oven, double basin and cupboards.

The bedroom has a queen sized bed with quality linen and a bamboo built in cupboard. The en-suite private bathroom amenities include a basin, bath and shower with a view. The shower has an external glass sliding door which can be opened for an exhilarating almost open-air shower.

Both the bedroom and lounge lead out onto the wooden deck through glass sliding doors where you can relax on deck chairs and soak up the sun or sip sundowners at sunset and listen to the sounds of night owls and the calls of forest night animals. A braai area is provided just off the deck where one can enjoy an open air fire, pamper a potjie or have a barbeque.

Proud to be eco-friendly, all water is rain harvested. The hot water is supplied by means of a solar geyser, backed up by a gas geyser for those rainy days. There is no power and therefore no television or sound system, allowing you to really get away from the rat race. However, the cottage is wired conventionally with standard 3-point South African plug outlets where chargers for cell phones or notepads can be plugged in and charged from a solar / battery power system that also powers the LED wall lights for evening use. All the wood for the braai and fireplace come from the wattles that are cleared from the farm.

Activities

The abundant bird life and flora can be enjoyed especially by walking on trails down to the river or into the Soutkloof and Kalanderkloof as well as on warm-up mountain bike circular routes. In the vicinity of the farm large forested areas and plantations also have a number of walking and biking trails. There are more than 50 identified species of birds and 142 species of trees and plants.

Sedgefield is only 12 minutes away to nip out and enjoy beautiful beaches, sport activities and several pleasant restaurants and of course to buy supplies and obtain services. Knysna is only 25 km to the East and George 40 km to the West.

With abundant sunshine, fresh air, forest and seclusion, the Kalanderkloof Cottage is just the place to feed your soul.
