About Karoo Dome

Karoo Dome offers a one-of-a-kind glamping experience within the secure boundaries of the Camdeboo Conservancy, a serene expanse where time seems to stand still, enveloped in a profound sense of silence and tranquility.

Situated beneath the rugged backdrop of the Camdeboo Mountains, this retreat is just a 25-minute drive from the historic town of Graaff-Reinet, making it the perfect destination for those yearning for peace, natural beauty, and comfort.

Glamping Accommodation

The luxury accommodation at Karoo Dome is provided in a geodesic dome, thoughtfully appointed with either a king-size bed or twin beds and an adjoining dressing room. Additional facilities include a separate bathroom, kitchen, and dining area, each housed in their own traditional rondavels. Guests can also enjoy a braai pit for outdoor cooking, a refreshing cold-water plunge pool, and ample parking space.

Set within a holistically managed farm on a 76,000-hectare conservancy, Karoo Dome offers a unique camping experience that blends the expansive landscapes of the semi-desert with the convenience of modern amenities. The dome itself is elegantly furnished, combining contemporary style with carefully selected antique pieces.

It also includes a rondavel kitchen area equipped with essentials (excluding an oven and toaster), a braai area with complimentary firewood, and a separate rondavel bathroom featuring a shower. For added relaxation, a cold-water tub is available for guests.

Location & Attractions

The conservancy, which is accessible only by appointment, ensures privacy and security for all guests. As there are no nearby shops, visitors are advised to bring all necessary provisions from Graaff-Reinet. While the Karoo Dome is closed during the peak heat of the summer months, it remains a sought-after destination for those looking to unwind in an unspoiled and tranquil environment.

Graaff-Reinet, just a short 25-minute drive away, is the fourth oldest town in South Africa. It offers a rich array of historical sites, charming boutiques, and delightful restaurants, providing a vibrant counterpoint to the quiet beauty of the Camdeboo Conservancy.
