What to expect at the lodge/reserve

Set between the mighty Limpopo and Mogalakwena rivers and on the border between South Africa and Botswana, Limpokwena Nature Reserve is home to not only 2500 hectares of riverine forest and mopane bushveld but also to a great concentration and diversity of birdlife and wildlife.

Our lodge is best suited for family groups looking to get away for a while and regroup, or couples wanting to spend some quality time together in a tranquil and relaxing environment. Limpokwena is a small, unassuming lodge that prides itself on simplicity and appreciating the wilderness from a new perspective. Game drives with a qualified and experienced field guide is offered.

Self Catering Accommodation

Accommodation at Limpokwena consists of a small, comfortable camp with 4 chalets and a small self catering cottage. The lodge is fenced in, affording young families the chance to explore safely within the camp grounds. There is also a communal swimming pool for the warm summer days.

The main area consists of a communal lounge and dining area, as well as a fully equipped kitchen. We offer self catering accommodation.

The chalets consist of a Queen-size bed, with the option of adding an additional 2 single beds per room for children. There is an en-suite bathroom which consists of a shower. The chalets are free standing for additional privacy and scattered throughout the well-maintained gardens. Paths through the gardens lead to the main lodge facilities.

The self catering family cottage is a self contained unit consisting of a twin bedroom with an en-suite shower and toilet, with a main bedroom, kitchenette, and outside barbecue facility. There is also a spacious loft upstairs equipped with additional beds of up to 4 single beds. All rooms are air-conditioned.

Surrounding Area

Limpokwena boasts a wide variety of fauna and flora. Many animals can be seen such as various kinds of buck, elephant, lion, leopard, rhino and many others.

Although the big game animals are always popular, there are the smaller species that can also be spotted, and in some cases, from the lodge grounds themselves. Regular sightings include the Nile Crocodile found along the banks of the rivers.

� The limit is 2 dogs
� The dogs need to have their vaccinations up to date
� The dogs need to be spayed or neutered
� The dogs must be well socialized as we have a medium breed Africanus on the property
� The dogs must be well behaved and not prone to hunting as we have small mammals that are able to access the lodge grounds
� We do permit the dogs on game drives if they do not bark at game
� They must be house-trained
� The dogs mess must be picked up around the lodge grounds by the owners
