Madikela Game Lodge is a highly recommended property for self catering in Vaalwater for anyone visiting the Waterberg region.

Madikela Game Lodge is situated on the Waterberg Plateau in the heart of the Waterberg Biosphere Reserve. The lodge's geographic location makes for pleasant weather conditions all year round, with the temperature seldom below 5 degrees or above 32 degrees C. The Lodge is only 2 hours 15 minutes from Pretoria and if arranged, guests are welcome to vacate their unit only after lunch on the day of departure.

Accommodation

Self Catering Chalets
The Madikela Game Lodge consists of well equipped, self-catering thatched chalets, each with a small kitchen and TV / dining room. Each one or two bedroom (stand alone) unit is secluded to ensure your privacy. One bedroom units have en suite bathroom, whereas the two bedroom family units have a shower, wash basin and toilet.Guest must bring own towels.

Each unit also has its own Jacuzzi / splash pool (some heated), a thatched game viewing deck and an enclosed braai boma. The garden area has a large swimming pool and a baby pool. For the children there is a large Jungle Gym, 18 hole Putt-Putt course and a Pool / games room.

The Honeymoon Cottages are luxury self-catering cottages with full en suite bathroom, TV, Braai facilities and a warm water splash pool. It is perched high up between large rocks with a spectacular view of the bush veld. It is well secluded, 3kms from the reception. Towels are provided in this cottage.

Activities and Attractions

Game can be viewed by self-drive, mountain bikes or self-guided walks (bring your own bikes). There are spectacular rock formations, which have been formed over millions of years, from where game such as giraffe, zebra, wildebeest, impala, kudu and blesbuck, can be viewed.

There are three restaurants, a Predator Park, a Wild Life Centre and a Reptile Park within 15 minutes drive from the Lodge. During the months of March to September there are monthly game auctions which are an experience of their own. One can also do the 60 kilometre 4 x 4 route (at extra cost) or drive to the Waterberg Kloof Pass (25 km's) with its 100m high granite cliff faces or visit the nearby crocodile farm.
