Munro Cottage offers accommodation in Balgowan on Inverness Farm. Come and share the quiet tranquillity of our working farm in the beautiful Caversham Valley. Inverness Farm is centrally situated, right in the heart of the popular Midlands Meander route, within easy reach of the finest restaurants, schools, spas, galleries and wedding venues in the country. This area is also a well known mountain bike and trail running destination, with miles and miles of single track and forest to explore.

Situated on top of a hill overlooking the beautiful Caversham Valley, we are blessed with magnificent 360 degree views. From the early morning mists in the valleys below to the glorious late afternoon sunsets on the surrounding mountains and forests, we are wonderfully spoilt and always in awe of our spectacular surroundings.

Self Catering Accommodation

Munro Cottage in Balgowan has two bedrooms, both of which are furnished with a Queen-size bed dressed in crisp percale linen and warm duvets. The main bedroom has an en-suite bathroom which both bedrooms share. The bathroom is fitted with shower and basin and there is a separate guest toilet. Quality towels and bathroom amenities are provided.

The cottage has a full kitchen which is equipped with a gas oven/stove, bar fridge and kettle, tea/coffee making facilities, eating utensils and crockery. For your convenience, tea, coffee, homemade rusks and fresh farm milk are provided.

There is an open plan lounge and dining room complete with a large fireplace to keep you warm and toasty during the cold winter months.

This cottage is gorgeous with views overlooking miles of forest, running trails and single-track and the Lions River meandering below in the valley. Enjoy eating out on your own sundeck or having a quiet evening braai. Complimentary firewood is provided for your first fire and additional wood and charcoal can be purchased on the farm.

Activities and Attractions

Wander in the fields amongst our resident horses and meet our cattle, friendly sheep, chickens and pigs. Take a stroll through our beautiful indigenous forest to our river deck and try your luck for the legendary Yellow Fish (Scalies) or just relax and enjoy a glass of your favourite wine.

We are spoilt for choice when it comes to excellent restaurants in our area and can gladly make recommendations or arrange a table for you. Piggly Wiggly has a number of activities from putt putt to candle dipping, zip lining and a petting zoo and there are a number of fantastic farmers markets; Earth Route Market in Nottingham Road, Swissland Cheese for goats milk cheeses and the Karkloof Farmers Market.

The well known Midlands Meander will keep you busy for hours; have lunch at Abingdon Wine Estate, explore the Karkloof Canopy Tours, go birding, enjoy a round of golf, try a few new beers at the Lions River Brewery, stock up on coffee at Terbodore Coffee Roasters, visit the Mandela Capture Site or try your luck trout fishing.
