Raptor Retreat Game Lodge is a highly recommended Limpopo game lodge providing a wildlife experience for discerning anyone visiting Valley of the Olifants.

Raptor Retreat Game Lodge is situated on the Parsons Nature Reserve within the Mopani region, approximately 40km north of Hoedspruit, and only a 4km game drive away from the banks of the Oliphants River, which forms the southern border of the Limpopo Province.

This unspoiled corner of South Africa is renowned for it's abundance of wildlife, mountainous scenery, indigenous forests, cascading waterfalls and diverse cultures. Raptor Retreat is an owner managed game lodge, offering luxurious accommodation and excellent service.

We offer excursions into the Kruger National Park, excellent bird watching opportunities, adrenalin pumping adventure activities and much more. Guests with their own vehicles can go on a self-drive excursion and be back in time for a boma dinner.

Accommodation

At the heart of Raptor Retreat is the Main Lodge where guests can gather to either dine or catch up on their adventures.

Buffalo Lodge:
Luxury Air-conditioned room with king-size bed & sliding doors opening to private deck with double recliners. Open plan wet bathroom with large bath and shower. Splash pool on deck. Tea/coffee, mosquito nets, toiletries, mini safe & bar fridge.

Elephant Lodge:
Luxury Air-conditioned room with king-size bed & sliding doors opening to private deck with double recliners. Open plan wet bathroom with large bath and shower. Splash pool on deck. Tea/coffee, mosquito nets, toiletries, mini safe & bar fridge.

Squirrel Suite:
Luxury Fixed Canvas unit with open plan bedroom & bathroom. King Size Bed, Double Basin, Victorian Bath and Open Shower. Opens up to large deck with Private Splash Pool & pool loungers. Tea/Coffee Station & Mini Bar Fridge. Mosquito Nets. Air-con & Fan.

Hippo Cottage:
Spacious unit with two king en-suite bedrooms, one with shower, the other with bath & shower . Large sliding doors open to patio. Private pool. Kitchen, dining room, boma and fire pit with braai. Lounge. Serviced.

Additional Facilities

Each unit also has its own boma and fire pit that includes braai facilities. The main lodge facilities are also open to guests staying at the self catering units as well as the game drives and other game-viewing activities offered at the lodge.

Dining

Hearty meals will be served twice a day in the dining area, or on the deck, where you will experience good old-fashioned home cooking. Any special dietary requirements should be arranged beforehand. Meals can be taken under the stars in the boma which features a built in table, comfortable seating and a fire pit � all lit by romantic paraffin lamps.

Wildlife Activities

With the possibility of having the Big 5 on your doorstep and an abundance of bird life, we offer early morning or late afternoon informative game drives with an experienced field guide. Take in the breathtaking views of the Oliphants River Valley whilst sipping on a refreshment and savouring the local snacks.

For the more energetic we offer professionally guided bush and bird walks, where our extensive knowledge of all things wild are shared. Safety is of the utmost importance, which is why all excursions must be accompanied by one of our experienced field guides. We also offer accompanied day trips into the Kruger Park, however, you can also explore the big five there in your own vehicle at your own pace.

ADVENTURE

Need some action? Then go on a balloon safari, fly in a micro light over the area, visit various caves, or go river rafting on the Blyde River. For the more adventurous, kloofing is available in Magoebaskloof, or experience the famous sky walk trails which consist of several suspension bridges and slides � the views are simply breathtaking.
