Red Stone Hills is a property for self catering in Oudtshoorn for anyone visiting the Karoo region.
Red Stone Hills farm is situated between Oudtshoorn and Calitzdorp, 6km on the Kruisrivier turn off, near the foot of the Swartberg Mountain and on the beautiful scenic drive to the Cango Caves.
A circular route combines the farm with other major tourist attractions in the area such as the Cango Wildlife Farm, Ostrich Show Farms, Calitzdorp hot springs, the Swartberg Pass and Meirings Poort (The Gorge).
Self Catering Accommodation
All six cottages have spectacular views of the river, the red stone hills and the vineyards. Guests are assured of total privacy and tranquil surroundings.
Accommodation options vary from authentic to luxury cottages. The cottages are 120 metres apart (except the Vineyard and Hanepoot Cottages which are 15 metres apart) Bedding and towels are supplied. Wood is available on request for the barbeque / fireplace.
Location & Experiences
Redstone Hills guestfarm near Calitzdorp is nestled within what must be one of the most spectacular geological landscapes in all South Africa. The striking reddish-hued koppies which surrounds the farm are constructed from iron-rich conglomerates which were deposited by turbulent rivers in the Cretaceous Period, some 130 millions years ago.
We invite you to come and experience genuine Karoo hospitality, spectacular views and breathtaking tranquility at Red Stone Hills guest farm.
Other exciting activities available on the farm include bird watching, hiking trails, horse-riding, pony-riding, mountain biking, bushmen paintings, swimming (river or pool), private Ostrich tours, walking trails, spotting small mammals and antelope, tractor rides, 8 km 4x4 scenic trail, 60 km trail nearby and a running marathon on the farm on the first weekend of May every year.
