Rhino Walking Safaris specialises in luxury walking safaris in 12,000 hectares of pristine bushveld in the only wilderness concession in the Kruger National Park. The concession shares a 15km unfenced boundary with the famous Mala Mala and Sabi Sands reserve, with an abundance of wildlife moving freely between the two reserves. Follow animal trails on foot through this environmentally sensitive area that offers the Big Five as well as a diversity of fauna and flora.

Rhino Walking Safaris and its two camps, Plains Camp and Rhino Post Safari Lodge, lie within a private wilderness concession just north of Skukuza in the Kruger National Park, offering exclusive walking trails and game drive safaris. The park is home to an impressive number of species, has an amazing 16 different ecosystems, and ranks as a prime Big Five game viewing area.

Accommodation

Rhino Post Safari Lodge:
Stilts raise the 8 spaciously appointed suites from the riverbank allowing guests to view the Mutlumuvi riverbed with ease from the bedroom, bathroom and private wooden deck. The suites are set out in an open plan style with wooden floors, thatched roofs, canvas walls and an overhead fan.

Each ensuite bathroom includes a deep, freestanding bath, �his and hers' basins, a separate toilet and an outdoor shower protected by thick reed poles. The bathroom floor is attractively decorated with delicate mosaic designs complimenting the contemporary floor. All the suites have mini-bars and telephones linked to all areas. Air-conditioning in Dining area & one double suite.

Built using natural materials of stone, wood, thatch & canvas, the utmost care was taken to minimise the environmental impact of the lodge, and to that end, no concrete was used in the building's foundations. Careful consideration was taken in the layout of the camp, battery power is used for lighting, special indigenous Reedbed System processes the bathroom waste, and other waste is sorted and recycled wherever possible.

Plains Camp:
Plains Camp offers 4 comfortably furnished African explorer style tents, en suite with hot running water and all the comforts of home with the African Wilderness on your doorstep. Built in authentic pioneer tradition, it has the serenity of a 19th century naturalists rest, nestled in an Acacia Knobthorn thicket.

A generator and a back-up battery system power overhead fans and 24 hour lighting. The generator system can be used to re-charge camera batteries at specific times. Communal Lounge & Dining Area with outside fireplace. Active waterhole. Overhead fans in all tents. 8 guests per walking trail. 2 armed rangers per walking trail.

Wilderness Care
Extreme care is practiced at all times by guides both on drive at Rhino Post or on walk at Plains Camp/Sleepouts. Animals are not harassed for photo opportunities. All driving takes place on existing park roads and gravel roads. No �bundu-bashing� or off-road driving takes place. No baiting of animals, with carcasses, salt licks or any other baiting takes place

Night Drives

Rhino Walking Safaris also has exclusive use of some of the Kruger National Park's public roads for evening game drives, well after gate closing times (sunset), ensuring guests an unforgettable experience. Highly qualified guides share their wealth of bush knowledge with you - from the identification of animals, trees, grasses, insects and birds to the medicinal uses of plants, folklore and basic tracking and survival skills.
