River Run Cottage offers a serene self-catering retreat on a private farm nestled in the heart of Kamberg Valley, within KwaZulu-Natal's stunning Drakensberg region. Guests are invited to immerse themselves in an array of mountain activities, including swimming, hiking, scenic walks, and more.

Spanning 94 square meters, the self-catering cottage is situated just one kilometre from Cleopatra Mountain Farmhouse. The private access ensures guests can enjoy complete privacy, peace, and solitude. The cottage boasts spectacular views, with the river in the foreground and the majestic mountains rising beyond.

Self-Catering Accommodation

The property features two spacious en-suite bedrooms, providing a comfortable and private stay. Additionally, an attic en-suite room can accommodate up to four children, making it ideal for family vacations. The cozy lounge and dining room offer ample space for relaxation and socializing, while the fully stocked kitchen allows for convenient meal preparation.

For those needing to work or study, a dedicated desk area is available. The covered veranda is perfect for enjoying the outdoors, and the outside boma, equipped with electricity, chairs, a table, a Weber braai, and a fire pit, offers an excellent setting for outdoor dining and gatherings. The property also includes full DSTV for entertainment.

Highmoor Nature Reserve, which forms 90% of our border, has recently been declared a World Heritage site due to its inherent beauty. It is a short 10-minute drive from the Mountain Retreat in a standard vehicle, with parking available at the top.

Horse riding in the Drakensberg is immensely popular, and just a 10-minute drive down the road, guests can ride beautiful Appaloosa horses. Trout fishing is available year-round; please inquire about the best fishing spots.
