About Rocky Pools

Rocky Pools is a far cry from some of the face-brick monstrosities along this stretch of the coast. As far as beach houses go, it sits way near the top of the pile tasteful design, unobstructed views, and an uncluttered interior befitting the ideal beach holiday.

As the name suggests, Rocky Pools is protected from the ocean by a buffer of jagged rock pools and coastal fynbos. A short stroll to the left leads to Penguin Point and its population of quirky birds, while an amble to the right lands you on Betty's long moody beach.

Self Catering Accommodation

The prime setting is exploited with a shady veranda equipped with lime-washed Morris-style furniture, and a sheltered braai area built around the local rock. Stepping through the wide glass sliding doors (again, a sensible choice), the interior is spotless and the fittings and fabrics tastefully coordinated. Kilims, down lighters, DStv (with a choice of four remote controls!) and a dishwasher lend a definite luxurious touch, complemented by screed floors and cretestoned walls.

A fully equipped self catering house in Betty's Bay, consisting of three bedrooms. Two of the bedrooms have queen size beds and one bedrooms has single beds. All of the bedrooms are en-suite. The kitchen contains a stove, fridge, microwave and a dishwasher. The lounge area leads to a large front porch boasting beautiful sea views. DSTV is also available. Outside is a built-in braai / BBQ area. There is an alarm system for security purposes.

Attractions and Activities

The Harold Porter Botanical Gardens in Betty's Bay makes for a pleasant outing, offering walking trails and a tea garden.

Stony Point penguin colony is a sure-fire winner with children and should keep their pleas for ice cream at bay for an hour or so.

Kogelberg Nature Reserve extends from Pringle Bay to Kleinmond. It incorporates both coastline and mountain terrain and has a number of trails and accommodation.

Kleinmond Coastal Reserve lies to the west of the town and presses deep into the mountain. The Palmiet River and lagoon intersects the heart of the reserve and is a good site for swimming and canoeing. The area tourism office is your contact for more info.

All the coastal villages along this stretch of rocky coastline have beaches some longer and some safer than others.
