Waterkloof Guest Farm is a property for self catering in De Rust for up to 10 guests visiting the Karoo region.

Waterkloof Guest Farm caters for convenient 3-star self-catering accommodation located on a working African farm, near the town of De Rust, at the foothills of the majestic Swartberg Mountains, in the heart of the Little Karoo.

Self Catering Accommodation

We provide a self-catering house with three bedrooms (one double bed and eight single beds) that can sleep up to ten guests. All linen and towels are provided. The rooms have fans and heaters. The house consists of a fully equipped kitchen (stove, microwave, fridge, deep freeze etc), two private bathrooms (with shower and bath) and a spacious lounge area with a TV (bring your decoder for DStv access.) There is a lovely braai area and safe under-cover parking available.

This charming homestead dates back to 1870 and together with its tranquil surroundings is a truly unique experience for local and foreign visitors. The area is malaria free and we pride ourselves on the fantastic climate; beautiful winter days with cool nights and perfect sunny summers.

Tamed wildlife roams freely along with domesticated animals on the working farm. We farm with ostriches, cattle, sheep, Angora goats and vegetable seed.

Activities at Waterkloof

Taking day walks on the farm, jogging or cycling across the countryside, explore the mountain bike and hiking trails. Waterkloof is a bird watching paradise with great variety of different bird species. You can just sit back, relax and enjoy the breathtaking views of the Swartberg and Kammanassie Mountains, while reading a good book. The clear nights skies, bright stars and silence truly unique to the Little Karoo makes a visit to this extraordinary beautiful farm more than a worthwhile experience.

With Waterkloof as a base, guests can explore Oudtshoorn's famous Cango Caves, Ostrich Show Farms, Cango Cheetah Wildlife Ranch, Klein Karoo Ostrich boutique with a wide variety of exotic South African products. Discover the magnificent waterfall hidden in the Meiringspoort Pass - a breathtaking landscape that truly brings you back to your roots with nature.

Also traverse the three magnificent mountain passes crossing the spectacular Swartberg and Outeniqua Mountains, linking the Little Karoo to the Garden Route and the Great Karoo. Explore the Victorian villages of De Rust and Prince Albert with its unique architecture, brows in quaint farm stalls, taste golden wines and fine port, try homemade breads, cheeses and olives. There are watersports and angling at Stompdrift Dam.
