Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) President Nawaz Sharif said on Friday that the Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif-led government was making all-out efforts to boost the country’s economy.

Speaking to media in London, the three-time former premier said, “Why people will pour on to the streets for the PTI founder? The nation does not recognize his [PTI founder’s] achievements as his performance is zero.”

He recalled his ouster as the premier, saying, “I had been the country’s prime minister thrice. I was informed in jail that my wife has passed away. We have suffered the worst persecution.”

Nawaz said, “We have endured the most injustice.” He berated the PTI, saying, “The PTI should show a project that it can be proud of.”

He stated, “PM Shehbaz's government is fixing the economy, and the economic indicators are improving.”

Speaking about the recently approved 26th constitutional amendment, Nawaz said, “The 26th constitutional amendment is welcoming. The parliament had already made such an amendment, which was later canceled by the judiciary.”

Few days back, Nawaz had extolled the efforts of PM Shehbaz and Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz for leading the country towards the economic revival.

Speaking exclusively to Samaa TV, Nawaz admitted that the economic crunch is one of the biggest challenges faced by the country.

He scoffed at the PTI founder over the matters pertaining to the International Monetary Fund (IMF).

“We did bid adieu to the IMF, but it was the PTI founder who ensured the comeback of the international lender,” Nawaz said.

He acknowledged the economic indicators in the country, saying, “The hardships will be addressed soon if the things continue to move in a similar fashion.”

Recalling his ouster as the country’s premier back in 2017, the PML-N chief said: “When the economy in our era sounded good, the Supreme Court had toppled our government. The masses had not responded to our ouster in a way we expected.”
