Forward progress stopped on brush fire burning north of Valley Center (original) (raw)

Cal Fire officials announced they had stopped forward progress on a brush fire that had burned 30 acres north of Valley Center on Wednesday.

Dubbed the Keys Fire, the blaze began around 2 p.m. near Lilac Road and Keys Creek Road, Cal Fire officials said on X, formerly known as Twitter.

The fire had grown to 30 acres within a half hour, burning grass and brush in the area with a moderate rate of spread, officials said.

Around 2:50 p.m., an evacuation warning was issued. However, the warning was lifted around 20 minutes later after firefighters announced they had gotten a handle on the fire, according to sheriff’s Lt. Kamon Harris.
