[ARTICLE] Ensuring the Continuity of Lifelong Learning through the Transition of Pre-2009 QualificationsThe South African education system has undergone significant transformation with the establishment and evolution of the National Qualifications Framework (NQF) and its three sub-frameworks managed by QCTO, CHE and Umalusi respectively. A key outcome of these changes and the maturing of the sub frameworks, is the need to align qualifications to the needs of industry, including pre-2009 qualifications—developed before the introduction of the Quality Council for Trades and Occupations (QCTO) and the Occupational Qualifications Sub-Framework (OQSF)—with the current ten-level qualifications framework. This process is essential to ensure that learners continue to benefit from a clear, accessible, and relevant system that supports lifelong learning. shorturl.at/EEczP#pre2009expiredqualifications ... A Farewell to SAQA House : Honouring the Past, Embracing the FutureSAQA bid a heartfelt farewell to the iconic SAQA House—a space that has been the heart of our operations, our ideas, and our shared purpose. Joining us in this significant moment was our founding CEO, Dr Samuel Isaacs, whose presence added a deeply emotional touch to the day.In his address, Dr Isaacs reflected on SAQA’s transformative journey, from its inception to becoming a cornerstone of South Africa’s education and training landscape. With wisdom and humility, he reminded us of the values that have shaped us, grounded in his famous words: "We build the road we are walking upon."Our current CEO, Mrs Nadia Starr, expressed profound gratitude to Dr Isaacs, recognising his role in laying the foundation for an enduring legacy. She assured all present that, while we bid farewell to the walls that held our memories, our mission and vision move forward, stronger than ever. This bittersweet farewell was not just about leaving a building—it was about celebrating resilience, growth, and the promise of what lies ahead. As we take this bold step into new surroundings, we carry with us the lessons of the past and a renewed commitment to advancing the National Qualifications Framework for all South Africans. Here’s to SAQA’s next chapter—built on legacy, fueled by purpose. #SAQAForward #BuildingTheFuture ...
