M8 closed in both directions as emergency services attend vehicle fire near Harthill (original) (raw)

Emergency services remain on the scene.
A major Central Belt motorway is closed in both directions while firefighters battle a vehicle blaze.
The M8 closed between junctions five and six in both directions around 10.44am.
It is the busiest road in the country and connects Glasgow and Edinburgh.
It is understood emergency services remain on the scene and there are currently four fire appliances in attendance.
A fire service spokeswoman confirmed they received the call about a vehicle fire at 10.24am.


A Traffic Scotland spokesperson said: “The M8 is currently closed in both directions between Junction 6 and Junction 5 due to a vehicle fire.”
