What is the offer?
If you make purchases of two, three or four shows in a single transaction, these are rewarded with percentage discounts on a sliding scale, increasing with each show added to your order.
Buy two shows, get 10% off
Buy three shows, get 12.5% off
Buy four shows, get 20% off
This replaces our long running ‘buy three shows, get a fourth free’ offer and works for all purchases, whether they are made online, in person or over the phone.
How does it work?
The deal will apply automatically to all purchases – you don’t need to enter a code or press any special buttons.
If you are buying the same number of tickets for each show:
It couldn’t be simpler – buy tickets for two shows and get 10% off your total, buy tickets for three shows and get 12.5% off your total, buy tickets for four shows and get 20% off your total.
If you want to buy even more than four shows in one transaction, the cycle begins again. For example, in a purchase of six shows you would get 20% off four and 10% off two. In a purchase of eight shows you would get 20% off the entire total.
If you are not buying the same number of tickets for each show:
The discount will be calculated in blocks of tickets. For example, if you buy two tickets each for three shows and one ticket for a fourth in the same transaction, they will automatically be split into a block of four single tickets (discounted by 20%) and a block of three single tickets (discounted by 12.5%). In this example, the total you pay will be discounted at a rate somewhere between 12.5% and 20% (depending on the actual value of tickets).
Note that the discount is applied to the face value of the tickets. It doesn’t include booking fees or postage charges.
The majority of tickets we sell are included in the offer, however there will be occasions where a show is excluded – for example if we are selling tickets on behalf of a third party, or if the event is a charity fundraiser. Shows which are not included in the offer will be clearly marked as such.
Why are we doing this?
We’ve decided to change our long running deal for two main reasons…
Firstly, we recognise that things are not the same as they were before Covid struck. People have less disposable income and are understandably more cautious in their ticket buying – often choosing to buy on a show by show basis rather than ‘block booking’ multiple shows. Our old deal only rewarded customers who bought four or more shows in one go, and we wanted to reflect the current climate a little better and encourage people who might previously have bought one show to go for two or three by offering a sliding scale incentive scheme.
Secondly, since Covid, there has been an enormous shift towards online sales. In the year running up to the first lockdown around 20% of our tickets were sold online. It is now closer to 80%. The old ticket deal could only be applied to phone and in person sales and was being used far less as a result, so we wanted to create an offer which worked however the tickets were purchased.
This is an experiment – a bit of a step into the unknown. It’s no secret that things have been very difficult for theatres, grassroots music venues and arts centres across the country for the last couple of years. Audiences have not returned to anything like pre-pandemic numbers and venues are all having to find their own ways of supporting their customers and encouraging people to return. We hope this new ticket offer will provide an incentive to try something different. We will be monitoring it closely though and may fine tune elements – in particular the discount rates per show – over the coming months.
