FAQs

What is the best drone?
We think it's the DJI Mavic 4 Pro. Simply put, it has outstanding image and video quality, three useful cameras, it flies well and it has a good battery life. We reviewed it and we think it's probably the best on the market.
When is the best time to get a drone deal?
You can often find drone deals all year round, especially on Holy Stone models, which are catered to beginners. However, annual sales events like Black Fridayand Amazon Prime day often offer the biggest discounts across the widest range of drones at any point of the year.
How do I know the deals are genuine?
Here at Space.com, we cover drone deals regularly, especially during annual sales events like Black Friday and Amazon Prime Day. Part of the process of updating this page regularly is checking each drone's price against its price history, to make sure the deal we show is genuine and not just another case of the 'before' price being hiked to make it seem like a deal, or that that the price you pay is considerably more than you would have previously paid, but still technically on offer.
Who manufactures the best drones?
DJI is the market leader in the world of drones. They make everything from professional models to beginner-friendly drones. You can often find bundles and discounts on their products but you can always rely on the quality they offer. Holy Stone also makes good drones, although they're usually suitable for beginners over seasoned fliers.
What does the ban on foreign-made drones in the U.S. mean?
The US has effectively banned foreign-made drones, going forward. So, while all the models on our list are available in the US, any new models, such as the DJI Avata 3 (if DJI releases one) may not make it to the US.
You won't get arrested for flying drones, but it's possible that drones will become scarcer in the United States. US-made drones will be fine but right now there are no consumer-level US drones available.
