Texas vs Oregon baseball box score: Full stats from NCAA Baseball Championship Game | Sporting News (original) (raw)
The Texas Longhorns have defeated the Oregon Ducks 6-5 and will advance the College Baseball World Series. This was admittedly one of the more entertaining games of the Super Regional round. Texas jumped out to a quick 4-1 lead by the end of the 2nd inning. Then would then go scoreless for the next five innings.
In that time, Oregon started to build. Two runs in the 3rd, one in the 5th, one in the 7th. Heading into the 8th inning, Oregon had moved back ahead of Texas holding a 5-4 lead. Then following a walk, hit by pitch and a single to third, Oregon gave up a double to left field allowing Anthony Pack Jr and Carson Tinney to score. Putting Texas back up by 2.
Enter Sam Cozart. He pitched the final two innings, did not give up a hit; barely gave up contact and registered four strikeouts. Retiring six batters on 28 pitches, 78% of which were strikes.
Texas now moves on to the College Baseball World Series. With four games scheduled on Monday, including two make up games due to weather, the World Series matchups have not yet been determined.
