White Sox call up .970 OPS outfield prospect from Garrett Crochet trade | Sporting News (original) (raw)
The Chicago White Sox continue to introduce young talent to the Majors.
According to a report from Matt Snyder of CBS Sports, the AL Central club has promoted outfielder Braden Montgomery from Triple-Charlotte.
Montgomery will make his MLB debut when he gets into a game sometime this week.
The 23-year-old is Chicago's No. 2-ranked prospect on MLB Pipeline and was one of the four players the White Sox received in exchange for left-hander Garrett Crochet from the Boston Red Sox.
Montgomery started the year at Double-A Birmingham before a promotion to Charlotte. He impressed in his first 29 Triple-A games, hitting .315 with a .912 OPS and four home runs in 111 at-bats.
"Montgomery can use his average speed to swipe an occasional base. Solely a right fielder in college, he's a solid defender there and can get the job done in center, where he spent the slight majority of his time last summer and will remain going forward," Montgomery's MLB Pipeline bio reads.

"His arm strength is as impressive as his raw pop, and he pushed his fastball up to 96 mph when he pitched in college."
This is just another exciting addition for the White Sox, who are looking to shock everyone and make a postseason push.
