Plant and Soil (original) (raw)
Overview
Plant and Soil is an international journal that publishes content exploring the interface of plant biology and soil sciences, and that enhances our mechanistic understanding of plant-soil interactions.
- Explores both fundamental and applied aspects of mineral nutrition, plant-water relations, root anatomy, root anatomy and morphology, soil biology, ecology, agrochemistry and agrophysics.
- Covers articles discussing a major molecular or mathematical component.

The special issue originated from the "International Symposium on Microbiomes for Climate Resilient Agriculture", sponsored by the Scheme for Promotion of Academic and Research Collaboration (SPARC), Government of India, and held at the Indian Institute of Technology Delhi on October 4th, 2024. We invite submissions of original research, reviews, and short communications that broadly explore the role of soil and plant microbiomes in mitigating the impact of environmental stressors. Contributions are welcome from all researchers, regardless of their participation in the symposium.
Contributions should provide insights into harnessing the interactions between plants and microbes to enhance crop productivity and resilience in a sustainable way. We are particularly interested in studies that integrate microbiology, plant science, soil science, environmental science, and other interdisciplinary approaches that lead to practical applications for improving agricultural practices.
Submission Deadline: 31 July 2025 | Expected 2025
This broad special issue aims to gather studies on five themes: Plant-soil-microbiome interactions and resource use; 2) Plant and soil biodiversity for ecosystem multi-functioning; 3) Sustainable crop and pasture systems: advantages and mechanisms; 4) Design, evaluation, and implementation for novel sustainable crop and pasture systems; 5) Regional sustainable cropping systems optimization: implication for policy making.
Submission Deadline: 31 December 2024 | Expected 2025
In this special issue, dedicated to Mediterranean systems, we welcome research with a broad range of topics, including but not limited to:
Best practices for soil conservation in the region, assessing the effects of Global Change on ecosystem service provision by plant and soils and exploring plant-soil interactions across multiple scales, from physicochemical processes to biological dynamics, encompassing aspects of community ecology.
Submission Deadline: 31 December 2024 | Expected 2025
