Release Date: 2008 | Tracklist Review Summary: It's almost worth the mounds of hyperbolic claims it receives.Imagine yourself in a New York street, surrounded with numberous old people driving, your mother in law, and Barney the dinosaur. Your frightened, as all of us would be; but have no fear innocent citizen of city terrors- your escape from this world will be your ipod/blackberry/iphone/cheap offbrand mp3 player and from it will flow beautiful music from a band named The ScriptOriginally starting out as “Mytown”, The Script took over its new name in 2001 and debuted their self titled in 2008, selling over 600,000 copies. “The Man Who Can’t Be Moved” pretty much made their name in America; Although in Ireland they had been well known since the album’s release. Being obsessively played on VH1’s top 20 every Sunday, it made it hard not to notice their poppy guitar sounds and intricately planned lyrics- which might I add- are displayed in almost every song from this piece of art. They make a subtle intro with “We Cry”. Definitely one of the high lights of the album if your more of a lyrically based music lover. They sing of the difficulties in different situations of peoples lives and the reality of having dreams that are so hard to chase and that sometimes we cant always reach them; “ There’s so much sad gonna flood the ocean, we’re all in tears for the world is broken- together we cry! There comes a time when every bird has to fly, at some point every rose has to die...” The fact that this album starts off with an average category song is surprising, considering its compacted with the majority of the tracks being love songs. Nonetheless_”Talk You Down”_ shows their versatility in writing even a lovesick ballad. The man in the song is so desperately in love with his lady, although their relationship is falling apart; in the lead singers vocals you can hear his inner cry for his true love to work. There really is no doubt that with lyrics like that, these guys get laid at every. Single. Gig they perform at. “The Man Who Can’t Be Moved” follows, and the mood of the album somewhat switches to a more mellow state. In the music video, the main man sits on the sidewalk and waits for this girl that he seems to have lost. There is a yearning just to find this one woman, and he refuses to move from his spot even when asked to by the police. Unlike some other bands (i.e.: Buckcherry, Flyleaf, etc ), the music video actually matches up with the song and the graceful lyrics it contains. A perfect fitting to the flow of the album, ”Breakeven” shadows after. No Astonishment here, Danny O’Donoghue (lead singer) continues to sing of his heart being extinguished by a baroness, but this time in a more angry kind of tone if your judging based on lyrics alone. “What am i gonna do when the best par of me was always you, and what am i gonna say when i’m all choked up and your okay? Im fallin to pieces yeah, Cuz when a heart breaks no it dont breakeven”Every album needs some sort of downfall song that doesn’t compare as well to the others. “I’m Yours” is exactly that. It sets a fierce statement for the whole album that secretly utters The Script is an overall good band, minus the obsession with sentimental passion writing. It doesn’t much stand out from the other love dependant works they’ve produced except for the superior verse of:“You healed these scars over time, and braced my soul, you loved my mind; your the only angel in my life” For those of you who are into heartbroken musicians with pop-like acoustic guitar parts, the Script is the band for you. On the other hand, If repetitive lyrics aren’t in your interest, this band will end up being the least played on your itunes. What exactly are the contents "average category" song? There really is no doubt that with lyrics like that, these guys get laid at every. Single. Gig they perform at.You probably shouldn't really even have this in the review, but if you're gonna keep it, you should make it as plain as "every. Single. Gig.". We would get the point you were trying to get across, it would look nicer and it would flow better.A perfect fitting to the flow of the album, ”Breakeven” shadows after. No Astonishment here, Danny O’Donoghue (lead singer) continues to sing of his heart being extinguished by a baroness, but this time in a more angry kind of tone if your judging based on lyrics alone. . Probably could combine those. There are a few more little things that you could probably fix, but they're not real big deals. Overall, it was a decent review. You need to work on your flow a little bit, but that's something that will develop as you review and whatnot. Also, you didn't really talk about the music at all, so while I'm quite aware of the lyrical content, I still have no idea what they sound like. Oh and your spacing in the first two paragraphs is weird.OhAliceMonsterApril 28th 2010

21427 Commentsyeah seriously... and even if you hadn't asked for it, what Spirit went out of his way to do for you was actually really nice. I hate when obviously constructive criticism gets a bad rap here.DoucheBranchApril 29th 2010

21427 Commentswell idk, you said pretty much exactly the same thing to me yesterday and later revealed that you were being sarcastic... I would have to be really dumb to assume that that "thanks??" was anything but sarcastic (refer to shoutbox for your explicit explanation of how you saying "thanks??" was sarcasm). 1 2 Next | |
