Mourning family members and friends are leaning on the community after a recent fatal shooting in downtown Wilmington claimed the life of their loved one.
A shooting on Front Street in Wilmington during the early hours of June 6 took the life of 23-year-old Emir Moore. Over 48 hours has passed since the incident with no suspect identified by police, who did not offer updates on the case on June 8.
On June 6 at around 1:36 a.m., officers with the Wilmington Police Department responded to 141 N. Front St. in reference to a reported shooting, according to a June 6 news release from police. The address is home to Unhinged Bar.
Upon arrival, officers located a 23-year-old male suffering from a gunshot wound. Unfortunately, Moore succumbed to his injuries at the scene.
A GoFundMe was created by Lashana Corbett with a goal of raising 7,000tohelpfamilyandfriends"layhimtorestpeacefully,"theGoFundMestates.Morethan7,000 to help family and friends "lay him to rest peacefully," the GoFundMe states. Corbett wrote that Moore was known to be sweet, loving and quiet.

"Emir was not a violent person; he loved his family deeply and brought warmth to everyone around him," the GoFundMe page states. "His life was taken for no reason, and the pain of his absence is felt by all who knew him."
