Therapeutic Adventures (TA) has always provided universal access to the adaptive programs and other therapeutic services we offer. No one has ever been discriminated against nor denied opportunities to participate. TA is proud of our steadfast devotion to provide universal access to address the needs of all people, in all environments, in all seasons.
We hope you take delight in skiing/riding/sliding on pristine snow at your favorite mountain slopes and backcountry trails. We hope you savor the quiet solitude of fly fishing on a beautiful trout stream. We hope you seek the panoramic vistas found when cycling on county roads, We hope you delight in the camaraderie of playing a well fought game with your teammates. We hope you explore (rivers, lakes, and bays) paddling your favorite watercraft. We hope you experience the adrenaline rush that comes from doing something that takes you out of your comfort zone. We hope you relish the mystique of salt water fly fishing and off-shore fishing in the Lowcountry coastal region.
With 42+ years of unprecedented service, Therapeutic Adventures (TA) has safely served thousands of persons of ALL ages and abilities who have put their faith, confidence, and trust in us. Individuals who have experienced traumatic or catastrophic life events must learn positive ways to adapt and overcome those challenges. We are proud to have delivered individualized adaptive instruction to our clients who have more than 100 different distinct diagnoses — physical and developmental disabilities, intellectual disabilities, mental health disorders, chronic and terminal health conditions as well as other rare complex medical diagnoses.
Therapeutic Adventures (TA) is proud of our trained ALL volunteer team who provide our unique approach to quality adaptive instruction and adaptive guide services making it possible for our guests to achieve their potential. Individuals who have experienced traumatic or catastrophic life events must learn positive ways to adapt and overcome those challenges. Our unique approach to teaching, coaching, guiding and mentoring makes it possible for you to achieve your potential: To Restore ~ To Rebuild ~ To Re-Create yourself. TA adaptive sports and adaptive outdoor adventures provide greater accessibility while emboldening those we serve with the courage to improve their functional independence, fitness and overall quality of life.
With 4+ decades of service, _Therapeutic Adventures_has been at the forefront of organizing and providing adaptive sports and adaptive outdoor adventures. Our TA staff have been on the cutting edge, exploring and developing new possibilities leading to advances and effective program development. Our Adaptive Outdoor Safety Council (AOSC) has produced instructional protocols as well as safety standards — (1) Code of Ethics for Adaptive Outdoor Leaders, (2) Practice Guidelines for Providers of Adaptive Outdoor Recreation Services.

“When people see they can do something that they didn’t know they could do, it opens them up to all sorts of possibilities,” he said. “It’s also just giving the feeling so many of us get from these activities. Everyone deserves to ski if they want to, feeling like they are flying on snow, or being out on the water enjoying the peacefulness of fishing. Where it’s possible, we want to make it happen.”

Amanda Seward – Paralympic dreams!
Therapeutic Adventures is pleased to share these exciting video segments that highlight the quest of Army Veteran, Amanda Seward as she pursues her dreams of being a member of the US Paralympic Snowboard Team.
Amanda, suffered a traumatic right above knee amputation (RAKA) while serving our country. She has not let that slow her down. Admittedly, Amanda has a lot on her plate: juggling professional development, continuing education in school, and a rigorous training schedule.
Amanda is driven. Her goals and relentless work ethic are a force to be reckoned with. Please help us by sharing your support for Amanda as she strives to fulfill her Paralympic dreams.

Therapeutic Adventures, Inc. is a non-profit 501(c)(3) charitable educational organization. We are proud of our highly trained and committed ALL volunteer staff. As you explore this website, you will come to understand what differentiates us from other non-profit organizations – the diversity and scope of our services.
OUR PROGRAMS are categorized in two general areas: Therapeutic Adventures (TA) (adaptive outdoor adventures) and IndependencePlus Adaptive Sports (I~AS) (recreational and competitive adaptive sports) which support individuals of all ages and abilities:

Our commitment is to support individuals and families by providing quality adaptive sports and adaptive outdoor adventure experiences. Your pledge to sponsor Therapeutic Adventures, makes it possible for us to enrich the lives of our adaptive athletes.
Sponsor an adaptive athlete . . . because smiles matter! $1,500 >
For an entire season, it costs approximately 1,500per/adaptiveathlete(1,500 per/adaptive athlete (1,500per/adaptiveathlete(300/day) – this includes assessment, individualized instruction, insurance, program supplies, adaptive athlete recognition, special adaptive equipment, area use fees, and more.
Sponsor adaptive equipment . . . because smiles matter! $3,500 >
Equipment for adaptive sports and outdoor adventures is very specialized. High-tech materials, engineering, and insurance make equipment very costly. A mono-ski, or bi-ski, a tandem kayak, or a hand-cycle each may cost $3,500 or more.
Sponsor an event . . . because smiles matter! 5,000–5,000 – 5,000–10,000 >
TA offers a number of single day and multi-day special adaptive events (camps, therapeutic retreats). Our events typically serve 15-40 participants with adaptive needs and may cost 5,000>forasingleday,and5,000 > for a single day, and 5,000>forasingleday,and10,000 > for a multi-day event depending on what is included: event registration, assessment, insurance, use of special adaptive equipment, special use passes, permits, travel, event supplies, recognition, meals, lodging, facility use fees.
Your donation, small or large, is a blessing to those we serve — providing important opportunities for all our clients/guests to have greater access to adaptive sports and adaptive outdoor adventures — helping them achieve functional independence and to improve their quality of life.
