Everton is the ‘most plausible’ destination for Inter Milan forward Joaquin Correa next season, according to reports coming out of Italy.

Sean Dyche will be looking to improve his squad in the summer transfer window, after the Toffees have fallen into yet another relegation battle this season.

Everton will first have to secure their Premier League status to have any chance of signing Correa, though, who snubbed a move to Goodison Park in January 2021.

The Blues hold the record for playing the most top flight games of any English team, but that could be in danger if they drop to the Championship for the first time since 1951.

Indeed, Dyche’s team currently find themselves in 17th place in the table and only out of the bottom three on goal difference.

The ex-Burnley manager has definitely begun to turn things around since replacing Frank Lampard in late January, but still has a big job on his hands to secure Everton’s survival.

Scoring goals has been the major problem for the Toffees. So far, they have netted the least goals of any Premier League team, with just 23 in 30 games.

With that in mind, Correa prove to be a good signing for Everton if they can get it done this summer.

Everton ‘make contact’ with Correa

According to CalcioMercato, Everton is the ‘most likely’ destination for Correa this summer, after he has failed to find form for Inter.

Indeed, in 20 Serie A appearances this term, the Argentina international has scored just three goals and made only one assist.

Correa has mostly been utilised as a substitute by manager Simone Inghazi, though, so he could flourish if given more minutes by Dyche at Everton.

_CalcioMercato_‘s report adds that the 28-year-old has been ‘watched closely’ by Everton scouts in recent weeks and they have now ‘made contact’ with the player’s entourage.

A versatile player, Correa has the ability to play as a centre forward, second striker or as a left winger on occasion, so he could potentially provide cover in a number of areas for the Toffees.

Interestingly, Correa isn’t the only Serie A player Everton are looking at signing, with Juventus centre-back Federico Gatti also on their shortlist.

Yerry Mina is expected to leave Everton this summer, and there are also rumours that Conor Coady won’t be signed permanently, so Dyche will definitely need to bring in at least one more defender.

For now, though, the manager’s focus will be on keeping Everton in the Premier League, with eight crucial games to go – starting with a clash against Fulham at Goodison Park on Saturday.
