Deeney doubts Watford move for Adebayor | TEAMtalk (original) (raw)
Troy Deeney doubts that Watford would risk the harmony in their squad to bring in Emmanuel Adebayor or any “bad eggs” in January.
Adebayor is a free agent after being released from his Tottenham contract earlier this season and was heavily linked with a move to Aston Villa before Tim Sherwood was sacked.
The Hornets have recently been spoken of as a potential destination for Adebayor but captain Deeney would be wary of signing the Togo striker, despite his proven quality.
“As a striker I’d happily say go somewhere else please, mate,” Deeney joked in an interview with Talksport. “This is the first of it I’ve heard to be fair so I’m not sure.
“He is a good player but there are questions marks about his temperament. Our owner isn’t naive enough to bring in any bad eggs in so I think they’d assess that angle if they were considering to bring him in.
“But his quality is there for everyone to see. If you can get that out of him then you’ve got a top player on their hands.”
