West Ham slap in loan bid for Liverpool star as RB Leipzig make £10m bid to tempt Klopp into pemanent sale (original) (raw)
West Ham have reportedly submitted a loan offer for Liverpool playmaker Fabio Carvalho, although the Reds have a dilemma as they also consider a permanent offer from Germany for the player.
The Hammers, along with fellow Premier League sides Brentford and Burnley, are said to have made enquiries over a temporary move for the 20-year-old ahead of the 2023/24 campaign.
However, Football Insider has revealed that RB Leipzig have already tabled a £10million proposition for a permanent transfer and are ready to return with a second offer for the player.
That leaves Liverpool mulling over whether to cash in on Carvalho or let him gain more experience at another top-flight club in England.
But if they do opt for the former, Football Insider adds that it’s expected they will insert a buy-back option.
The talented attacking midfielder only arrived at Anfield last summer in a £5million move from Fulham, after impressing for the Cottagers in the Championship.
During his two years with the London club, Carvalho scored 12 times and had a further eight assists in 44 games.
He was also named in the PFA Championship Team of the Year in the 2021/22 season for his efforts in helping the Craven Cottage outfit get promoted to the Premier League.
Carvalho expected to make summer move
However, Carvalho struggled for game time during his debut season on Merseyside, making 20 appearances across all competitions for a total of 638 minutes.
He actually featured in 10 of Liverpool’s first 11 Premier League matches, but his opportunities dried up at the turn of the year as Jurgen Klopp opted to use other options instead.
And with more midfield arrivals expected to follow Alex Mac Allister into the club, it appears certain Carvalho will be on the move – it just remains to be seen whether that is on loan or a sale.
