Abstract
The monarchy stands as an emblem of tradition in the United Kingdom, its presence woven into the UK’s history since the 9th century (from William the Conqueror) until now (currently King Charles II). However, its position and role have changed massively since then, from having “divine rights” (because it was widely believed that God appointed the Monarchs hence, they are God’s representation on earth1) and being on the top of the hierarchy and having power over millions of people’s lives; to becoming constitutional and stepping away from politics entirely. As time and society progresses, people start to ponder whether the existence of even the constitutional British Monarchy is outdated and unfit for the current mode of society; evident through the declining support for the Monarchy in the society.
