Drainage work begins on Koorkenchery–Kuruppam road in Thrissur to tackle waterlogging (original) (raw)
In a move aimed at resolving the recurring waterlogging issue on the Koorkenchery–Kuruppam road, the Thrissur Corporation has begun construction of a modern drainage system along the stretch.
The project involves building drains on both sides of the road to ensure smooth flow of rainwater, thereby easing difficulties faced by motorists and traders during the monsoon season.
The drainage work is being carried out as part of the Corporation’s Pavement Quality Concrete (PQC) road development project. Officials expressed confidence that the initiative would significantly reduce waterlogging in the area.
The project was inaugurated by Mayor Niji Justin with Deputy Mayor A. Prasad presiding over the function.
Corporation authorities said steps have been taken to ensure timely completion of the project and expressed hope that the long-standing waterlogging issue in the area would be largely resolved once the work is completed.
