Gov. Gretchen Whitmer and the Michigan Strategic Fund board announced approval for business development projects in Troy, Detroit and Fenton that are anticipated to bring 650 new jobs and $97 million in investment in the state.
The three projects are supported by performance-based grants through the Michigan Business Development Program, according to the governor’s office.
Electric vehicle manufacturer Slate Auto was approved for a $5 million grant to expand its North American headquarters in Troy.
With a capital investment of $10.4 million, Slate’s expansion will create 392 new jobs.
The two other projects approved include the newly formed company-Fenton Food and Beverage LLC, and Alquist 3D, LLC. The state approved a 960,000grantforFentonFoodandBeveragetocreate96newjobsandinvestupto960,000 grant for Fenton Food and Beverage to create 96 new jobs and invest up to 960,000grantforFentonFoodandBeveragetocreate96newjobsandinvestupto56.2 million in the City of Fenton, and a 1.6milliongranttoAlquist,arobotic3Dconcreteprintingcompanywhichisinvesting1.6 million grant to Alquist, a robotic 3D concrete printing company which is investing 1.6milliongranttoAlquist,arobotic3Dconcreteprintingcompanywhichisinvesting31.25 million for a manufacturing and research facility in Detroit, creating up to 162 new jobs.
