Gillespie, 46, is an award winning CEO with Renfrewshire care charity The Kibble.
He has been a director with the Paisley club since 2020 and has a wealth of boardroom experience.
Ibrox chiefs have been desperate to fill the role since Bisgrove quit for a big money move to Saudi Arabia, as first revealed by SunSport.
His shock exit coincided with Rangers’ bungled order of steel for rebuilding work at Ibrox, which has seen them temporarily rent Hampden.

That’s heaped huge pressure on Bennett who has been doing the job while candidates were considered.
But it’s now understood that Gillespie - a lifelong Gers fan with contacts at the club - will land the job and be confirmed within weeks.
As yet the fine details on his contract have not been rubber-stamped but barring an eleventh hour hitch he will be announced.
Bennett has been focusing on reopening Ibrox.
But he said on July 29, “My other objective is to get that delivered. And I hope to have some news pretty soon about our CEO.”
