Where is Thomas's Battersea?

Prince William and Kate Middleton opted to send their first born to the posh south London school Thomas’s Battersea.

The co-educational school is located in the heart of what is dubbed “nappy valley”, given it is a sought-after location for families.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge relocated to Kensington Palace from their Norfolk home Anmer Hall, where they lived when Prince George was a baby.

The school has a theatre, a gymnasium, a ballet room, pottery room, along with two libraries, an Astroturf and a rooftop playground.

How much does it cost to send your kids to Thomas's Battersea?

It doesn’t come cheap to send your youngsters to the elite London prep school.

The exclusive establishment charges the princely sum of £19,000-a-year for their students.

The school was chosen by Prince William and Kate for George because “it was the right fit for him”.

Will George be joined by his siblings?

Princess Charlotte has joined her big brother George at Thomas's today.

The four-year-old royal was "very excited" to start at Thomas' in Battersea, South London, this morning as she walked into class with her big brother Prince George and dad Prince William.

Charlotte shook hands with lower school headteacher Helen Haslem, who crouched down to meet her at eye level.

Dad William told Ms Haslem that his daughter was "very excited" for her first day.

The school usually charges £6,429 a term – or £19,287 a year – but Princess Charlotte will only be charged £6,305 a term, or £18,915 a year, as she gets a sibling discount.

Her uniform will cost "an additional £550".

Former pupils of the school include model Cara Delevingne and singer Florence Welch.

What does Thomas's offer?

Thomas's prides itself on a "rounded education", with as much emphasis on kindness as academic results - although many of its 540 boys and girls, aged four to 13, go on to top public schools such as Eton.

Society magazine Tatler says it is populated by “pushy professional parents”.

But the Good Schools Guide describes it as “competitive” and chosen by parents who want the “best education money can buy”.

The curriculum includes broader subjects such as art, ballet, computing, drama, modern foreign languages, music and PE.
