The Stooges have been taking care of Mary, their downstairs neighbor who is confined to a wheelchair. The boys have jobs hanging posters at a theatre featuring The Great Svengarlic, a famous hypnotist. Svengarlic is also the leader of a gang of jewel thieves, who plan to rob an office building next door to the theatre. When Svengarlic needs some dupes who will help him put on a public exhibition, distracting everyone from his gang's next robbery, the Stooges are hypnotized to walk out on a flagpole and dance many stories above the street. Svengarlic is knocked unconcious in an accident, and the Stooges awake to find themselves clinging to the flagpole for dear life.
A remake, with stock footage, of HOKUS POKUS (1949).
The new footage for FLAGPOLE JITTERS was filmed July 1, 1955; the new footage to FOR CRIMIN' OUT LOUD (1956) was filmed on June 30, 1955. Contrary to what the release dates lead some to think, Shemp's final work before the camera was done for FLAGPOLE JITTERS.

Buckets in the Background
When Moe asks "Which one of you slammed that door shut?, the sound of the falling buckets in the background makes it hard to hear what he's saying.Cut in Picture
In the reused footage from HOKUS POKUS with the Stooges reading the Svengarlic poster, the camera begins panning over across the room, then they insert new footage with the camera continuing to pan across the room and stopping on Svengarlic and his gang walking out of a door. You can tell when the cut for the new scene comes in during the camera pan.Forgetting the Script?
After Larry says "Maybe a cyclone did it, Moe is supposed to respond "Yeah, maybe it just blew shut like this..., but he looks at Larry and pauses for a few seconds as if he forgot his lines. Then the camera cuts to a closer shot of Moe and Larry, then Moe finally says the line - and also, his hair suddenly looks neater than it did in the previous shot.Reused Footage Error
A remake of HOKUS POKUS, and new footage is inserted explaining that Svengarlic and his assistant are safecrackers and are using the Stooges as disposable dupes. But in a later reused scene from HOKUS when Svengarlic gets knocked out, Sven's assistant worriedly says "The boys are up on the flagpole! The assistant's genuine concern for the Stooges stuck on the flagpole made actual sense in the original version where he and Svengarlic were actually innocent and just using the Stooges as hypnotism subjects, but it seemed completely out of place in the remake.

You can tell that Shemp is pretty much on his last legs here. A very weak remake, but I did like the bit with Moe and Larry and the whole "maybe it was a cyclone."
