The Business License Division administers the Business License and Hospitality Tax ordinances. Every person or entity engaged or intending to engage in business is required to obtain a license based on business activity and gross receipts. Business license fees are due prior to commencing operations, and annually on April 30th. Hospitality taxes on prepared meals, food, and beverages in the amount of 2% are due on the 20th of each month to Charleston County, our collection agent.

New business license applicants please complete the Applicant Information Form below. A few days after submittal of the information, we will send you an email with questions or requesting that you call us (843.849.2786) with MasterCard or Visa to make payment. Town Hall hours are Monday thru Friday, 8:00 a.m. until 4:30 p.m.
If you need your license immediately, please come to Town Hall directly.
Licenses are not considered valid until payment is made in full. Once you have submitted your application, you will receive an email within several days with follow-up information.
