The original tower was the second tallest structure in Asia when it was completed and the current tower is a cool sight if you have time to go to Shinsekai. At 103 m tall it isn't the tallest observation tower and we decided not to go up during our visit because we had done quite a few observation decks already during our trip to Japan.

The cost to go up the tower is 900 yen/person and it is located in the colourful Shinsekai area which is full of colourful lanterns and signs. The tower is also very close to the Tennoji Park & Zoo and we considered the area to be pretty family friendly in the evening.

The closest metro is Ebisucho Station on the north side but the Dobutsuen-Mae Station to the south is pretty accessible to the south.

The view at night is the best, so do go during that time. The lights are very amazing. There are also shops around that areas for food as well

Tsutenkaku is quite an old tower. You have a nice view over Osaka from the top of the tower, but it isn't as impressive as newer and higher towers around Japan. I don't think I would pay to visit a second time.

he whole area is full of lots to do and see. For the tower get there early or you are in for a long wait. The viewing area is not high or very big. Bit the tower is eye catching.

We went there on a weekday evening. It was very packed and we had waited for 50 mins to get to counter to get the tickets for the observation deck. Then we had to go to another queue for another 25 mins to another counter to get the ticket for the slider (we need to sign a waiver form). There were only 3 people working at the counters for about 100 people in the queues.

The slider lasts about 10 seconds. You are inside a tube and cannot see anything other than hear yourself screaming.

The observation deck is relatively small and not too tall. It is better to go there in the evening as you can see the city lights.

I probably won't go there if it is not included in the Amazing Pass.

We arrived at around 4pm and the queue to collect our tickets to the observatory was short. We were lucky that the sky was clear and the views from the observatory was amazing. We stayed to catch the sunset and it was beautiful. There is also a small exhibition/display on the history of the observatory and Glico. It was overall a great place to visit.

Finally a visit to Tsutenkaku - the iconic Observation Tower in the Namba district, offering further panoramic views of the city.

I suspect by modern standards the tower is not high enough, glitzy enough, not extreme. There is no glass floor or really scary experience but for someone a bit nervous of heights this place is great. It’s plenty high enough for me and has great views over the city. The experience from going up in the lift to the viewing floors is rather kitsch but good fun. There is an option to descend a few floors on big slide if you fancy it. I would have done but the queue was rather long.

On the way out there is an good exhibition about the history of the tower and surrounding district including some interesting archive film footage.

I tried Japanese kushikatsu at Tsutenkaku.
It was very crowded and lively.
I enjoyed the variety of Japanese food in Osaka

Staff were great, friendly and helpful but the tower was a bit of a let down.

The ticket was 900¥ and the top garden observation deck was an additional 300¥.
The 4th floor was horrendous with awful music and stickers on the windows covering the veiw.
The 3rd floor had a Pocky museum which was a little out of place, there was no signage in English or Japanese. It seemed very out of place.

I was very disappointed overall.
