Had the good fortune to arrive during a service, which was lovely to hear. (I’m not orthodox, so the service is unique for me) Very ornate on the inside.

Wonderful church with small museum like area in the catacombs with no entry fee.
Visited twice during recent visit to Thessaloniki.
If possible visit during the week, as it was very busy during the weekend.
Definitely worth a visit!

Beautiful Greek Orthodox Church. Open entry. Candles available for prayer. Unique construction over various periods due to fires, earthquakes and conflicts. Avoid the WC.

An amazing renovated church from 14 century. I visited it on the third day of my 5 days trip to Thessaloniki. It is high church.It has an amazing freskos. I can see the crypt of Saint Dimitrios. In it I saw fragments from the earliest church variety.

Very beautiful, historical, real monument of our religion and for Thessaloniki.
The only reason that I am giving grade 4 instead of 5 is because I didn’t like that inside the church was a shop selling products (this should be outside the church).

The interior of this church is definitely worth a look. It was festively decorated for the holidays when we visited.

The Church of Agios Dimitrios is worth visiting, as it hosts the holy remains of the Saint, who is also the Patron Saint of Thessaloniki. It is easy to get to it, and nearby there are other tourist objectives worth visiting.

We really enjoyed our afternoon here. It is amazing to read and learn the history of this landmark site. The info was available in English and was very informative and interesting.
Highly recommend adding this stop to your trip.

We were here as part of a group tour in September 2022 and this place is definitely worth a visit. The outside is quite ornate and the inside is worth a look. We didn't have long there so only had time to take a few photos, see the altar and the memorials before we had to head out. Hopefully you'd have a bit more time to see things as there's a lot here.

Beautiful church with amazing art on the wall. When you go into the church it is enormous huge inside and beatiful at the same time. There is a basement beyond a chirch which is historically important, and there is a place where St Demetries was killed. Absolutely recommending everyone to visit this if you are staying at Thessalonikki.
