Between all the dissapointing tourist traps this hidden gem is exactly what you are looking for if you want fresh, high quality authentic portugese food! philippe is your super friendly host who speaks english and can explain you the menu. there is also an open kitchen so you can see the guys in action. be brave and try as much as you can. I have eaten most of the menu by now and was never dissapointed. I recommend sharing dishes and leaving some room for deserts. house wine is also highly recommended. so be open, be nice, be patient and you will have a fantastic night at Salmoura. I was tempted not to write a recommendation, since the place now has a good balance of locals and tourists. But then again the guys deserve a shoutout for doing such a great job. (we came back to Lisbon just to eat here for two nights 😉 ) reservation is recommended!

We've came here already a couple of times and always had great nights! Filipe and his team are doing an incredible job at Salmoura. The food is fresh and tasty, the menu makes it hard to decide what to go for and the service is on point. There is always a great vibe in this place, which is not only because of the food, but also because of their passionate team. I've already sent a couple of friends to Salmoura and everybody had a great time. Highly recommendable!

Food was so good we had to come back the next evening for more. The wild boar, veal croquettes and squid were especially delicious. Charming interior, good staff and superb dishes all round. Very good value for money, definitely give this place a go.

Good quality original food based on a twist of Portuguese cuisine. Phillips is a good host! Dedicated chefs who pride themselves on dishing up Quality food. Nice clean restaurant

An amazing restaurant in everyway. Food is excellent, staff is excellent, interior design is very good, wine cart excellent. Couldn’t ask for more. One of the best restaurants in Portugal, certainlly one of the best in Algarve

This is a must not miss! Portuguese menu only. The menu is completely dedicated to providing you the most amazing and honest Portuguese flavors and cuisine. It is brilliant. The owner Philip is very enthusiastic and personally served us all of our dishes. He explained everything and made sure we felt welcome. He even went out of his way to talk to me about Portuguese dining customs. I must say this is the best dining experience we have had in all of Portugal. FIVE STARS!!!!

These guys know how to cook. They use traditional ingredients and give them a new savory touch on your plate. we‘ve been there two times in a row. The patron is a nice guy and makes you feel comfortable.

Super place, very nice people and brilliant food! Sat right at the counter with the food prepared right in front of me (a sort of chef's table). Nice talks and nice drinks (beer, grappa and coffee). The start of my stay in Lisbon could not have started any better and I am thankful for the suggestion given to me to go to this taberna.

We got very good tappas end the service was in top. The restaurant was full when we arrived, but it was worth waiting

Excellent restaurant with lovely staff, Sarah was excellent, menu chosen from the board and excellent experience. Wild boar superb but slightly disappointed by shrimp with porridge, overall though certainly worth a visit

Cute small lively restaurant with an even livelier waiter. Loved the wild boar. Heavy, of course, but tasty. Sword fish with passion fruit was a disappointment - mushy and not very tasty. The stir fried pork was tasty but it was served on bread which I didn’t care for. Red wine by the glass is local and very good.
