Golden Tempo won the 2026 Belmont Stakes at Saratoga Race Course in Saratoga Springs, New York, on Saturday, June 6.

The horse, ridden by jockey Jose Ortiz, won the 1½-mile (12 furlongs) race with a time of 2:03.49. The race took place while rain was falling, causing the track conditions to be muddy. Commandment and Renegade finished second and third, respectively.

The race served as the final leg of the Triple Crown, following the Kentucky Derby and Preakness Stakes. Golden Tempo won the Derby in May but did not race in the Preakness. That decision was made to prioritize health.

Cherie DeVaux became the first female trainer to win two Triple Crown races in the same year. DeVaux had also become the first female trainer to win the Kentucky Derby last month. She became just the second female trainer to win the Belmont, joining Jena Antonucci, who won the race with Arcangelo in 2023.

This is expected to be the last time the race will be held at Saratoga. The race was temporarily relocated to the upstate New York track to accommodate Belmont Park’s $455 million capital renovation project on Long Island.
